THE LEGACY OF John F. Kennedy. This set was produced by the Lincoln Mint in 1971. Beginning in February 1971 one (1) SILVER medal was shipped each month for (36) months. There was a limited edition of only 5,000 PROOF SETS issued using .999 Fine SILVER. Each coin has a Serial Number that is stamped on the rim. This SILVER medal is 1,955 of 5,000 Proof sets that were minted. Each commemorative medal is 39mm (larger than a SILVER Dollar) and contains approximately one full ounce (.97) troy ounces of .999 Fine SILVER (NOT STERLING
SILVER).
Lincoln Mint is renowned for their VERY HIGH QUALITY strikes and attention to detail. With over 33 MILLION American Silver Eagles that were minted in 2013, this set of only 5,000 Proofs makes them extremely difficult to find today. There is some Patina / Rainbow Coloring / Tarnishing on some of the coins due to their age, but no signs of being handled.
